CONCEPT OVERVIEW
The umbrella stand is typically treated as a purely utilitarian object, existing quietly at the edge of an entryway with little consideration for interaction or experience. This project challenges that assumption by reimagining the umbrella holder as an active, responsive element within everyday space.

DESIGN INTENT
The sculptural cylindrical form provides natural support for long umbrellas, while the adjustable internal platform offers intuitive placement for smaller ones. This design aims to transform an often-overlooked object into a refined aesthetic element that adds a sophisticated modern presence to its environment. Its anodized aluminum and translucent structure offers a sleek, high-performance solution suitable for use in residential entryways, boutique offices, and public interiors

The internal modular assembly optimizes moisture management without compromising structural integrity. A perforated support plate guides water into a removable reservoir, accessed via an ergonomic handle for easy maintenance. Beneath the drainage layer, an active ventilation system—shielded by a protective cover—accelerates the drying process. This compact stack enables a minimalist exterior while housing a sophisticated system for airflow and drainage.

An integrated proximity sensor triggers a subtle LED visual cue upon approach, ensuring the umbrella is never forgotten. This responsive lighting pairs with a tactile button for manual control of the drying cycle, blending automated feedback with intuitive user interaction.
