ILLUMIA LAMP

The Illumia Lantern is a modern, decorative light fixture that combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary materials. It features a leather strap for easy carrying, 3D-printed components for durability, laser-cut acrylic and plywood panels for intricate detailing, and a wooden base for stability.

CHALLENGE

The biggest challenge was ensuring the grooves were accurately made so the model would fit together perfectly, as well as sanding the 3D-printed surfaces to achieve a smooth finish. This project marked my first time working with the circle jig machine, 3D printing, and laser cutting, and it required careful preparation of all files to precise specifications. I embraced the opportunity to learn these new techniques in order to successfully realize the product.

RESULT

The final lamp design successfully blends traditional and contemporary elements, showcasing a harmonious mix of materials and techniques. The intricate laser-cut acrylic panels cast decorative patterns of light, while the stained wooden frame and copper-finished top add warmth and sophistication. This project not only enhanced my technical skills with new fabrication methods but also resulted in a functional and visually striking piece that stands out as both a decorative object and a practical light source.
